XXII Discussions in Structural Molecular Biology and 9th User Meeting of CIISB

We thank all participants for attending the conference. 140 participants enjoyed the scientific program consisting of 30 oral presentations, 16 flash talks and 61 posters. We were happy to meet old friends and to find new ones, also during the evening (and nights…). You can return to the conference moments with the photos by Jan Stránský and photos by Petr Pachl.

Congratulations to the Winner of the 2025 PhD Thesis Award

The prize is awarded to

for her outstanding PhD thesis entitled

Structure-function studies of tubulin-modifying enzymes

defended at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science,
Charles University in Prague

We congratulate Jana and her supervisor Cyril Bařinka,

CCP4 Central European Workshop 2026 – registration open

It is a great pleasure to announce the CCP4 Central European Workshop 2026 on computational structural biology. The event will be held in Nové Hrady, South Bohemia, Czechia, from 26th April to 2nd May 2026. The workshop is open to structural biologists from any part of the world who need to develop knowledge and skills in macromolecular crystallography and electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM), particularly in using software for data processing and analysis.

The deadline for applications is 28th February 2026.

The workshop is organised by the Czech and Slovak Crystallographic Association and CCP4 with the support of the Czech Society for Structural Biology, CCP-EM and the European Crystallographic Association.

Competition – the best PhD thesis in the field of structural biology 2025

The goal of the competition is to motivate young scientists (PhD degree or equivalent) to work in the field, to support a high level of research and study at Czech and Slovak universities in this field, and to contribute to the involvement of young scientists in the community of structural biologists and related fields.

The prize includes a monetary reward of 25,000 CZK in the form of a scholarship and coverage of the regular conference fee for XXII Discussions in Structural Molecular Biology and 9th User Meeting of CIISB in 2026.

Deadline for submitting application: January 9, 2026
Announcement of results: not later than February 13, 2026
